After correcting the Church of God at Corinth, the Apostle Paul turns their attention to the intellectual vanity that had taken root in the congregation - vanity and pride where we endeavor to impress other human beings.  We must remember that the purpose of our calling is to develop righteous character in THIS life so as to be gifted by the grace of God to be in the first resurretion, to stand up from below, to stand up from the grave, to breach the chambers of death, and come forth to be changed to a Spirit Being, able then to fulfill office for which God has prepared for you.    .....and the confidence, that surety, that faith must exist in us in the absence of intellectual vanity.
